King & Spalding City partner Nick Cherryman has left the firm to take up a post at a fast-growing litigation U.S. rival.

Litigation partner Cherryman will join the City office of Kobre & Kim later this month.

Cherryman was previously a partner at legacy Bryan Cave, and later head of international disputes in Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson's London office, handling complex multi-jurisdictional matters involving enforcement, asset recovery, insolvency, fraud and misconduct

Before this, he practised as a commercial chancery barrister at XXIV Old Buildings for 12 years.

He has acted on a number of high-profile litigations for companies including BP, Goldman Sachs, Motorola, Malaysian Airlines, Cerner UK and NokiaSiemens.

On his appointment, Kobre & Kim founding partner Steven Kobre said in a statement: "Many of the most prominent practitioners in this field are based in London, and we have long admired Nick's recognised expertise in this area."

In a statement, a King & Spalding spokesperson said: "We thank Nick for his efforts and wish him well in the future."

Kobre & Kim has grown quickly since its 2003 launch. Since last year it has ramped up its recruitment efforts, making key hires in London, Asia and the U.S.

However, it was hit by the departure of heavyweight white-collar partner Roger Burlingame last year when he joined fellow U.S. firm Dechert in London.
