Squire Patton Boggs has lost another partner in its London office, this time to King & Wood Mallesons (KWM).

Real estate partner John Danahy, who joined Squire at the beginning of 2017, is set to rejoin KWM where he had been a managing associate for nearly three years from 2014. He is set to start at KWM in July.

Danahy's practice covers energy and natural resources and infrastructure, including work on projects involving nuclear, large-scale gas and renewable power, as well as distributed energy networks, rail infrastructure and pipelines.

A spokesperson for KWM confirmed the move and a spokesperson for Squire said: "We wish John well and thank him for his time with the firm."

Danahy is the seventh partner to leave Squire's London office since the beginning of the year, including Squire's former London managing partner Robert Weekes, who moved to become the London head of U.S. firm Crowell & Moring in January.

In April 2018, Squire's global managing partner Stephen Mahon had relocated to London to take over from Weekes as head of the City office.

Five other Squire partners left to join Crowell following Weekes' departure, including U.K. litigation head Laurence Winston, London insolvency head Cathryn Williams, insolvency partner Paul Muscutt and infrastructure partner Robin Baillie in February, and banking partner Andrew Knight who joined Crowell in March.

Squire also lost an eight-lawyer team in Abu Dhabi to Morgan Lewis, which was opening its first office in the city, alongside a seven-lawyer team hire from the same firm in Washington D.C.

Squire has made hires in the U.S. however, picking up Crowell professional liability and financial lines head Deirdre Johnson and insurance and reinsurance co-chairman Paul Kalish for its Washington, D.C. practice.
