Goodwin Procter has hired another partner from Taylor Wessing in London, marking the U.S. firm's fifth lateral pick-up from the outfit to emerge this week.

Taylor Wessing head of tax Rob Young will join Goodwin upon completion of his notice period, three people with knowledge of the matter have told Law.com's Legal Week.

Young had led the firm's tax group since 2017, and has been a partner at the firm since 2009. He specialises in venture capital taxation, real estate and corporate real estate transactions.

He will rejoin several former colleagues at the firm, becoming the sixth lateral partner to join Goodwin from Taylor Wessing this year.

Last week, Goodwin hired a heavyweight four-partner team, led by international corporate co-head David Mardle.

Three additional partners—Malcolm Bates, Tim Worden and Adrian Rainey—are due to join him upon completing their notice periods.

So far this year Goodwin has made six lateral partner hires from Taylor Wessing, after it also added corporate technology and life sciences partner Andrew Davis in January.

Goodwin has expanded across the globe in recent months, with a particular focus on tech and life sciences.

It launched a European life sciences practice last year with the hire of a four-lawyer team from Dechert, including two in the U.S. and two in the U.K.

Earlier this year, the firm hired four life science partners from U.S. rivals Fenwick & West and Sidley Austin, in its San Francisco and Silicon Valley bases.

Goodwin Procter's London revenue soared by 58% last year, jumping from $42.3 million in 2017 to $66.8 million in 2018.

In a statement, Taylor Wessing managing partner Shane Gleghorn said: "We can confirm Rob resigned some months ago. He has been working his notice period and leaves the firm at the end of July with our best wishes."
