The general counsel of U.K.-based money transfer service TransferWise has resigned from her post, the company has confirmed.

The company is now "on the hunt for a world-class GC", it said in a statement.

Jenifer Swallow, who has been GC since September 2015, announced on LinkedIn yesterday that she is to leave her post and is on the lookout for a new role at another company.

In a statement, a TransferWise spokesperson said: "Jenifer has been an inspirational TransferWise leader who has contributed significantly to the mission in her time with the business. We're sorry to see her go and we wish Jenifer the very best in her future endeavours."

TransferWise – which serves about four million customers – last year raised $400 million to fund an expansion drive.

Swallow began her legal career as an associate at legacy Barlow Lyde & Gilbert before taking up her first in-house role as legal counsel at Yahoo! in 2005, later becoming legal director for EMEA product compliance for the internet giant.

Following a string of other roles, including as senior international counsel for U.S. games developer Zynga and as GC for entertainment company Mind Candy, she joined TransferWise in 2015.

Nokia has also just lost a senior in-house counsel, with chief legal officer Maria Varsellona leaving to become general counsel at robotics and technology company ABB.

And earlier this month, ex-Latham partner Andrew Macklin was hired by financial services provider Apex Group to be its first-ever general counsel.
