Simmons & Simmons has become the latest UK firm to boost its salary package for newly qualified (NQ) lawyers.

As of this month, the firm will pay out £79,000 to NQs in London.

The pay hike in London represents an increase of 5.3% from the previous level of £75,000. The firm also confirmed that, when including bonuses, high-performing NQs had the potential to receive more than £100,000 in remuneration.

The firm also disclosed that it would pay a base rate of £52,000 to NQs in its Bristol offices, up from £51,000 previously.

The announcement is the latest in a flurry of salary hikes for NQs taking place across London.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer triggered the rises for U.K. firms in May, boosting NQ salary remuneration to £100,000, which was subsequently matched by all the Magic Circle firms, ending with Linklaters on July 1.
