King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has bolstered its London cross-border M&A practice with the addition of a partner from U.S. firm Winston & Strawn.

Partner Stewart Worthy joins KWM's London team, where he will continue advising clients on cross-border transactions, with a particular focus on in-bound U.K. investments in the automotive, sport and retail sectors.

Worthy has been a lawyer at Winston & Strawn since 2007, making partner in 2015.

Following his move, Worthy said in a statement: "I am excited to join a firm with a strong reputation for cross-border work, stellar private equity practice and commitment to building a top-tier law firm."

The hire comes soon after the firm brought in real estate partner John Danahy from Squire Patton Boggs in June.

In the past few months, the firm has also upped its recruitment efforts in Asia and Australia, adding Herbert Smith Freehills financial services and regulation partner Sarah Yu to its Sydney office, and disputes partner Rachel Yu to its Hong Kong office, again from HSF.

Last year, KWM also hired U.S. M&A and private equity partner Huang Ling into its China practice from Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton in Beijing.

The firm last month promoted 42 lawyers to its partnership, including one in its London office.
