Big Four auditing firm KPMG has added another recruit from a law firm, this time from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP).

The accountant has hired BCLP technology partner Usman Wahid, who joins its legal services offering. He announced via LinkedIn that he has left now left BCLP to help "grow [KPMG's] technology law and commercial law offering".

Wahid first joined legacy Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) in 2005 and made partner in 2014. His practice at the firm focused on IT and outsourcing transactions.

Prior to joining the firm, Wahid was an in-house counsel at T-Mobile, and also worked at Legal & General and Dentsu Aegis Network, according to his biography on BCLP's website.

His hire follows that of corporate partner Kate Eades from U.S. firm Greenberg Traurig's London office last month.

KPMG U.K. head of legal services Nick Roome said in a statement: "Our clients need the best expertise when they look to KPMG for support with business reorganisations, deals and other complex transactions, which is why we've brought in Kate and Usman. Their knowledge and skills will considerably strengthen the depth of our capabilities in this area and further enhance our ability to support KPMG clients with the challenges they face."

Both partners are due to start in September. The news comes amid KPMG's global expansion of its legal services arm.

Earlier this year, the Big Four firm appointed former King & Wood Mallesons global managing partner Stuart Fuller as the new head of its worldwide legal offering, based in Australia.
