Tax and legal adviser Andersen Global has put a pin on the map in the Netherlands as it continues its global expansion push.
The professional services giant has entered a collaboration arrangement with Taxture, a Dutch six-partner tax-focused advisory firm based in Amsterdam. Taxture managing director Ferruh Tarik Tigli worked as an auditor at legacy Andersen Global Arthur Andersen for four years.
The tie-up is the latest in a series of new openings in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America for Andersen Global, which operates outside the U.S. as a network of independent tax and legal advisers. It announced earlier in the year that it was aiming to up its tally of 48 countries to 100 in three years.
Andersen global chair Mark Vorsatz told Law.com that Taxture has a high-end consulting practice, which it recognized fit well within its global organization.
He also said Andersen plans to further expand its legal services offering in the Netherlands and is actively pursuing opportunities in the Balkans and Czech Republic. He added that the firm expects to make several additions in the next 12 months.
Vorsatz said outside of Europe, Andersen continues to expand in Africa and Latin America. The firm will be announcing collaborations in 3 additional African countries in the next month and anticipates that announcements regarding expansion in Latin America will be forthcoming.
Andersen Global currently employs about 4,500 people. Since the beginning of 2019, it has entered into agreements with local advisers for the first time in Hungary, Romania, Qatar, South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Senegal, Ghana, Zimbabwe and Colombia. It has also grown existing operations in Luxembourg, Turkey, Peru, India, Brazil, Spain, the U.K., Germany and Austria.
Legacy Arthur Andersen, along with its legal arm Andersen Legal, collapsed in 2002 following scrutiny of its role as auditor to US energy company Enron, which suffered a high-profile bankruptcy in 2001. The business now known as Andersen Global was subsequently founded by 23 former Andersen tax partners. It adopted the name Andersen Global (and Andersen Tax for its U.S. business) in 2014, after acquiring the legal right to use the Andersen name.
