Squire Patton Boggs has continued bolstering its London banking practice with a partner hire from Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF).

The U.S. firm has picked up banking partner Ian Yeo from HSF, who was formerly at Clifford Chance.

Yeo was a partner at HSF for 13 years, having joined the firm as a partner in 2006 from CC, where he trained and qualified.

His appointment to Squires follows that of Ashurst banking partner and former managing partner James Collis, who is set to join the firm in October.

Squires' European managing partner Jane Haxby said in a statement: "The continued development of our financial services and corporate teams in London is a key strategic goal for the firm."

The new banking additions follows several partner departures from Squires' London office to U.S. rival Crowell & Moring this year.

Squires' U.K. litigation head Laurence Winston, London insolvency head Cathryn Williams, insolvency partner Paul Muscutt and infrastructure partner Robin Baillie all left the firm to join Crowell's London outpost earlier this year.

The team move reunited them with Squires' former London managing partner Robert Weekes, who joined Crowell at the end of 2018.

A spokesperson for HSF said in a statement: "Ian Yeo has decided to retire from Herbert Smith Freehills. We thank him for his contribution to the firm and he goes with our best wishes for the future."
