Clyde & Co has struck a deal to transfer the estate agency arm of its Aberdeen office to another Scottish law firm, Ledingham Chalmers.

Clyde & Co's residential property practice division, called Simpson & Marwick Estate Agency, was formed following the firm's merger with the legacy Scottish law firm of the same name in 2015.

Under the terms of the merger, Simpson & Marwick's law practice was rebranded as Clyde & Co but the estate agency division maintained its original branding.

The estate agency team, comprised of 12 staff including a residential property partner, David Gettie, and a senior associate, will all transfer across to a new outfit called Ledingham Chalmers Estate Agency.

The agency will operate from its current office at Alford Place as well as the Ledingham Chalmers headquarters in Rose Street.

The residential property division of Clyde & Co will retain and continue to use the Simpson & Marwick brand in Edinburgh and East Lothian, where it has a team of 30.

David Tait, managing partner for Clyde & Co Scotland said: "We thank David Geddie and his team for their hard work over the years for Simpson & Marwick Aberdeen clients and wish them all the best for the future as they become part of Ledingham Chalmers Estate Agency."

Last month, a five-strong Clydes private client team in Edinburgh, who also joined from the 2015 merger with Simpson & Marwick, left the firm to join Scottish law firm Gillespie MacAndrew.
