Dentons has expanded its corporate offering in Australia with the appointment of a corporate and commercial transactions partner in Perth, as its merger with an Adelaide firm takes effect.
Daniel Kirk has more than 20 years' experience in corporate and commercial transactions. His areas of focus span the industrial, property, financial services and energy sectors, Dentons said. He has "strong transactional experience" within Australia and also in China, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Europe, Brazil and the United States.
"Dentons has a very strong corporate offering for clients across Australia. Having Daniel join the partnership enhances what we can offer clients through our already strong Perth corporate practice, led by partner David Perks," Australasia region chair and CEO Doug Stipanicev said in a statement.
"Daniel's experience both in Australia and in other jurisdictions around the world also provides lots of synergies with Dentons," he added.
The partner hire comes as Dentons' previously announced merger with Adelaide firm Fisher Jeffries takes effect.
The combination adds 11 new partners and expands the firm's capability across financial services, corporate, dispute resolution, construction and engineering, employment, manufacturing and real estate.
"Fisher Jeffries has an excellent reputation in South Australia as a specialist commercial firm, built on an intimate understanding of the local business market," Stipanicev said. "We can now provide our clients with access to 77 partners across Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth."
The merger is the latest in a string of tie-ups around the globe for Dentons.
Last month the firm announced plans to merge with five African firms, following recent combinations with firms in South Korea, Honduras, Argentina and Uruguay and New Zealand.
In South Australia, the firm will be known as Dentons Fisher Jeffries.
Kirk joins the firm from local firm Lavan, where he was a partner. Lavan could not immediately be reached for comment.
