Sidley Austin has hired corporate partner Eleanor Shanks to its London office from U.S. rival Proskauer Rose.

Private equity specialist Shanks joined Proskauer in 2016 from Dentons, where she had been made partner in 2014.

Prior to joining Dentons, she was a senior associate at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and had trained at Norton Rose Fulbright.

Erik Dahl, co-head of Sidley's private equity practice and a member of the firm's executive committee, said in a statement: "We now have one of the leading private equity practices in Europe, built through strategic investment in key markets and preeminent talent.

"With more than 90 transactional lawyers in London and Munich, Eleanor was attracted to our dynamic European team and will be a tremendous asset."

Last month, Sidley hired funds partner Mateja Maher to its London office from Campbell Lutyens, where he had been general counsel.

During the summer, Dechert picked up three partners from Sidley to bolster its funds, litigation and real estate finance practices in London.
