Eversheds Sutherland has grown its London office with the hire of Simmons & Simmons U.K. corporate head Giles Dennison.

According to the firm's statement, Dennison trained with Simmons and qualified in 1996. He made partner in 2007 and five years later was appointed U.K. corporate head.

He has also previously sat on Simmons' U.K. management committee and spent time on secondment at Cadbury Schweppes, where he was acting group legal director.

He specialises in public and private M&A joint ventures, restructurings and corporate advisory and governance. In 2015, he advised on U.S. technology company Keysight's acquisition of U.K. telecoms business Anite in a £388 million deal.

Dennison also led a Simmons team advising on Halfords' purchase of bike businesses Tredz and Wheelies the following year.

Eversheds Sutherland global corporate and M&A co-head Richard Moulton said in a statement: "Giles is a renowned corporate M&A partner and it's great to bring a City lawyer with his experience into our established M&A group."

The hire follows Evershed's continued ambitions to boost its corporate offering. This year, the firm has boosted its Amsterdam and German bases with several partner hires, as well as its Manchester base.
