DLA Piper has moved to a larger office in Dublin just a year after it opened in the city, the international firm has announced.

The firm has more than doubled its office space in the city by moving to a 10,000 sq ft office on St Stephen's Green to allow for expansion. The firm's previous office, which opened in January this year, was about 4,000 sq ft.

According to a statement by the firm, its Dublin headcount is set to reach 50 by January 2020, up from its current figure of 45.

The firm has also announced that it will launch a paralegal programme in the city next year, along with expanding its summer internship programme.

DLA added in a statement that it is "well on track to deliver a practice of 100 lawyers and business professionals over the coming years".

The firm opened in Dublin in January of this year and has hired partners from local firms including William Fry, A&L Goodbody, Dillon Eustace and Matheson.

Following its initial hire of the firm's Ireland managing partner David Carthy from William Fry last year, the firm picked up a four-partner team in January, before recruiting four more partners in the city in September.

The firm is the latest to expand in Dublin. U.S. firm Dechert also recently announced that it will move premises in Dublin to a space that is almost two thirds larger than its current office.
