Tesco turns to Freshfields as it sells coffee chain to Caffe Nero
British supermarket giant has instructed the magic circle firm while Travers Smith is acting for the buyer

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is advising Tesco on the sale of its coffee chain Harris + Hoole to Caffe Nero.
Freshfields' retail sector group head Claire Wills, tax partner Jill Gatehouse and real estate partner Mark Wheelhouse are advising on the sale in London.
Travers Smith is advising Caffe Nero on corporate matters with a team led by City corporate partner and recent Legal Week dealmaker Adrian West and IP and technology head Dan Reavill.
Travers Smith originally advised on the establishment of Harris + Hoole in 2012.
Partner Louise Nelson at regional firm Nelson & Co is advising Caffe Nero on property matters.
Freshfields advised alongside Slaughter & May on Tesco's sale of its Dobbies Garden Centres business earlier this month with a team led by Wills.
Slaughters advised the investors buying Dobbies with a team in London, including corporate partner Robert Stern, M&A partner Murray Cox, head of debt capital markets Matthew Tobin and real estate partner Jane Edwarde.
Both sales form part of Tesco's ongoing efforts to focus its business on its core grocery retail brand.
Wills also advised Tesco on its disposal of Korean business, Homeplus, in September 2015. On that occasion, she worked alongside London corporate partner Alison Smith and Asia corporate partner Simon Weller. Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton represented the consortium of Korean investors buying the business.

The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota.
