Mayer Brown promotes four in the City in 31-strong round
News of US firm's promotions follow a number of exits in London

US firm Mayer Brown has promoted four lawyers to partner in its London office as part of a 31-strong global promotion round.
The four new City partners are: corporate and securities lawyer Rebecca Bothamley, tax lawyer Ben Fryer, real estate lawyer Iain Roberts, and litigation and dispute resolution lawyer Jessica Walker.
Last year, the firm made up two partners in its London office.
The majority of this year's promotions are spread across the firm's US offices in New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Houston, Charlotte and Los Angeles.
Mayer Brown has also made up four partners in its Paris office, one in Hong Kong and three in Sao Paulo.
London senior partner Sally Davies said: " We're proud that 50% of our promoted partners are female. In addition, several of our new partners and counsel started out as trainees at the firm. We are very pleased that we continue to have a good track record for retaining and promoting homegrown talent."
In addition to the partner promotions, Mayer Brown has also promoted 16 lawyers to counsel including six in London. All of the promotions come into effect on 1 January 2018.
The City promotions come after a number of partner exits in recent weeks.
Gibson Dunn & Crutcher hired two London partners from the firm earlier this month, including the US firm's global co-head of corporate and securities Jeremy Kenley.
Kenley, who was also head of private equity real estate at the firm, is moving to Gibson Dunn with London tax head Sandy Bhogal.
Their departures came just two weeks after Legal Week revealed that two Mayer Brown insurance partners – including London insurance and reinsurance head David Chadwick – were leaving to join Kennedys.
