Everlaw, an e-discovery software-as-a-service provider, recently upgraded its namesake cloud-based software with automatic language identification and on-demand translation, predictive coding and enhancements to StoryBuilder, a function that assembles select documents into an annotated case outline and uses built-in collaboration tools to share the outlines with colleagues and experts.

The cloud-based Everlaw focuses on the right side of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model in document review and litigation support. Prior to Legaltech New York, the company added automatic deduplication and a function to code a document like the previous coded document. It also redesigned the user interface to a card navigation system. Cards aligned on a dashboard display actionable, drill-down data on a review or production process. The HTML5 interface provides a similar experience on PCs and mobile devices.

The automatic translation tool filters a document set by language. The tool can detect the language used in documents and predict whether the document is primary and relevant to your case. It is no substitute for expert translation, said Jon Kerry-Tyerman, vice president of business development at Everlaw. “Technology should augment expertise,” not be a substitution for it, he continued.
