The currents of technology have a way of turning on a dime, making predictions a difficult prospect. But while no one can predict the future with any degree of certainty, making moves based on current trends is essential for survival in this quickly evolving space.
Huron Consulting Group offers advice for clients in almost every major industry, and its legal practice Huron Legal, provides consultation and technology to support its e-discovery efforts. In January, the company acquired Sky Analytics, and in April announced the firm had become the exclusive reseller of Allegory Law's litigation management services. These moves are part of Huron's efforts to stay ahead of the curve in supporting legal's technology needs. Legaltech News recently had an opportunity to sit down with Bob Rowe, executive vice president of Huron Legal to discuss not only these recent movements, but also the long-term trends shaping the legal space.
Speaking first to the Allegory news, Rowe explained the partnership allows Huron to move past processes of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), which it has most frequently involved in, allowing it to push services to clients further into the litigation process. “Historically if you look we came out of the e-discovery space,” Rowe said. “The industry and our perspectives are shaped around the EDRM, in our world the case begins at collection and ends at production. But to the litigator while that is an important subset of the case, there is so much more that goes on.”
