Index Engines Inc., an enterprise information management and archiving software provider, announced integration with CommVault backup catalogs and tapes with the latest version of its Catalyst software.
Index Engines controls costs and risks associated with legacy data on tape. The Holmdel, New Jersey-based company's Catalyst software manages legacy tape catalogs and delivers a search view into archived tape content, allowing the identification of allowing individual files and email to be found and extracted without the original backup software. Law firms and enterprises can retire legacy tape applications and transition customers to a new backup platform.
Besides CommVault, Catalyst software supports IBM's Tivoli Storage Manager and Symantec Corp.'s NetBackup platform to manage legacy catalogs and search and report on backup catalog metadata and policies. Restoring content from these systems is also supported, including mailboxes or individual email, without the need for the original backup software.
