Have you worked on e-discovery? Then you've probably had something go wrong with e-discovery. As a complicated multi-step process dealing with large data sets, it make sense that something could go wrong. However, that doesn't mean that e-discovery experts should throw up their hands; real world examples can provide a roadmap for avoiding sticky discovery situations.

George Socha, EDRM (Electronic Discovery Reference Model ) co-founder and president of Socha Consulting, and Michael Boggs, director of practice support at Holland & Hart, aimed to provide those practical examples ILTACON 2015 in Las Vegas. The duo moderated the “20 E-Discovery Warnings in 60 Minutes” panel, which featured ten different speakers providing two warnings a piece to the full room at Caesar's Palace.

The 20 warnings covered a variety of different snags that can occur during discovery, from issues surrounding gmail collection to what to do when your favorite management application was designed for PDFs rather than emails. But each of the warnings had one thing in common: Even smart e-discovery experts can hit small snags that make discovery a headache.
