Venerable e-discovery standards organization EDRM provides a number of tools that aid in the assessment and selection of e-discovery platforms. On Sept. 24, the organization announced it will bolster those tools with the addition of a new calculator designed to help customers make the right e-discovery investment.

The tool was designed by Casey Flaherty, former in-house counsel for Kia Motors America and founder of Procteras. He said in comments to LTN, “The original impetus was simple. I was selecting a vendor for a large matter, and I could not make sense of their price proposals. They all had very different price structures/charge points, which made an apples-to-apples comparison hard.”

The calculator was the result of that need to better compare vendors, and it calculates three common areas of consideration made when purchasing an e-discovery tool. The tool joins EDRM's portfolio of six previously available cost and efficiency calculating options.
