More organizations are hiring senior information governance officials – in part as a response to cybersecurity incidents, according to a new study.

The Information Governance Initiative (IGI) 2015-2016 Annual Report reveals that many of these organizations have multiple ongoing IG projects. And “significant money” is being spent on them, an IGI statement said.

Large organizations have, on average, seven projects that each cost over $750,000 and small organizations have four projects that cost $186,000 each, the statement adds. Also, organizations involved with IG say the amount they will spend with IG will increase during 2016, the study said. Close to half of them predict increased spending of 30 percent or more, the study adds.
