Legal analytics provider Lex Machina has announced upgrades for its suite of intellectual property and patent data tools. The company, which was recently acquired by LexisNexis, said on Dec. 3 that it has added a considerable amount of new data to its analytics platform, specifically focused on providing better information for those involved in matters with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

“We have taken legal analytics for PTAB to the next level,” said Josh Becker, CEO of Lex Machina, in a statement. “In today's dynamic patent litigation environment, lawyers need to look at all litigation options, including PTAB, district court and the International Trade Commission, in order to present the best legal strategy or patent defense. Our legal analytics for PTAB makes it easy for lawyers to evaluate every conceivable angle and create data-driven strategies that win cases.”

Increasingly common in the practice of law, data analytics provide professionals with the means necessary to identify patterns instrumental in the development of case assessment and litigation strategy. As such, larger data sets have the ability to identify patterns with increased resolution.
