Some 31 percent of in-house counsel say their current or former company – at which they worked – have experienced a data breach, according to a new study from the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Foundation.
Breaches are more than twice as likely to take place at large companies, the study adds. Of the in-house counsel who saw a breach at their companies, some 47 percent said it took place last year or this year, the study reveals.
When it comes to why these breaches take place, employee error is the top cause, cited by 24 percent of those questioned. But less than half of the respondents said their companies have related “mandatory training” for their employees.
