E-discovery wouldn't hold its current place in the legal technology circuit if it weren't for a small yet influential group of pioneers. From the judiciary side of the equation comes Judge Nan Nolan, who in addition to working on pretrial discovery and hosting numerous lectures and workshops on the topic, co-founded the Seventh Circuit's E-Discovery Pilot Program—an effort to develop procedures that reduce the burden of e-discovery costs while maintaining fairness among parties.

After a 14 year career as a U.S. magistrate judge, Judge Nolan retired from the court in 2012 and has since worked with JAMS as special master, arbitrator and mediator. Now entering the next phase of her career, she has joined law firm Redgrave as of counsel.

LTN recently caught up with Judge Nolan to discuss her influential career, views on the current state of e-discovery, and the road ahead.
