Blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionize how organizations and their in-house attorneys handle compliance and contracting. But while there have been organized efforts at promoting blockchain use in-house, actually developing and implementing the technology may be a big leap for many companies.

Technology service and solution providers, however, are stepping in to help organizations seamlessly deploy blockchain-empowered tools—opening up a new revenue stream in the process. In May 2017, IBM announced the launch of its fee-based Blockchain Founder Accelerator program, which trains organizations on how to build blockchain tools, provides them with one-on-one mentoring services, and offers prebuilt blockchain software assets to support their development projects.

Comprising eight initial selected participants, the accelerator is an expansion of IBM's blockchain ecosystem program, which connects business leaders with blockchain technology providers, and a continuation of its focus on leveraging the technology in enterprise offerings. In July 2016, for example, IBM opened a blockchain development center in Singapore to support both blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) enterprise solution development.
