Attorneys, ever the competitors, are no stranger to ranking metrics. Many lawyers keep the U.S. News rankings of their law school and the AmLaw rankings of their law firms readily on hand to impress clients and peers.

Legal analytics platform Ravel Law recently announced their entry into the rankings game with their Firm Analytics product, which uses metrics drawn from motion success rates to rank large law firms against one another across upwards of 30 practice areas. This is Ravel's fourth data intelligence platform, following their Judge Analytics, Court Analytics and Motion Analytics tool.

Daniel Lewis, CEO at Ravel Law, explained that the new product is intended to help firms get a handle on their own historical data and gauge the competition. The product features a set of dashboards and leaderboards that he hopes attorneys can use to not “just rank but also evaluate and understand” experience of their own firms and others.
