Although the legal technology startup community regularly engages in strategic collaboration and partnership, companies have rarely made the coding behind their technology open source.

But while coding behind much of legal technology is proprietary, it's likely that many offerings were designed by using open source code.

Andrew Hall, founder of Hall Law, spoke at Legalweek West about different kinds of open source licenses and what kinds of compliance requirements legal technology developers need to keep in mind when using them.
