Perhaps nobody collects more data than today's Silicon Valley giants. Imagine the amount of data a company such as Amazon or Twitter generates on its own, then imagine what it must be like to be in-house e-discovery counsel that has to sort through that data. It's a monumental task, and one that's only growing in stature.

That's why it's no surprise that when Facebook set out to a hire a new e-discovery expert in the company's growing legal department, it looked for someone with Silicon Valley experience. Now, noted e-discovery attorney Mira Edelman has come to Facebook as director of e-discovery services after nearly six years with Google, where she was most recently senior counsel and discovery manager.

Facebook has not commented publicly on the move, but Edelman confirmed it via LinkedIn on Wednesday.
