When talking about the future of legal technology, one's mind inevitably wanders to such innovations as artificial intelligence or blockchain technology. But while both play a growing role in the industry, they are far from the only driving forces behind legal tech's evolution.

For Ian Levit, vice president of sales and marketing at legal document software provider Levit & James, it's the everyday attorneys that are shaping legal technology, taking it to new heights. He believes the industry is defined as much by a push toward flexibility and adaptability as it is by new technologies.

Levit, whose company has operated in the industry for more over 30 years, recently spoke with Legaltech News on where he believes the legal technology industry is heading, and what will come to define its future. Here are highlights from the interview:
