New York state-based Stanley Law Offices has released Stanley Law GPS System, an online app that allows clients to easily and instantaneously track their lawsuit's progress.

The system offers real-time online access to resources and information, letters, dates and appointments, according to a press release issued by the firm. The system also includes a case timeline that shows who's working on a case, along with the ability to review and add documents and view a case calendar.

The app is accessible through internet browsers and cellphones and is currently only available to Stanley Law clients at no extra fee.

“Clients want to know what's going on with their cases and they don't always necessarily understand the process. The GPS program allows them to see it visually,” explained Stanley Law office manager Tara McCheyne.

The program also includes a “Spare Time” section, which shows informational videos that firm owner Joe Stanley has recorded to serves as a video aide for clients to help them better understand how their case is developing, McCheyne said.

McCheyne said her firm's program isn't the first of its kind, but differentiates itself by marketing the tool to clients as a way to track their case's and lawyer's progress. Indeed, Stanley Law Offices follows a growing host of law firms that are leveraging technology to provide clients with needed information.

For example, Reed Smith launched GravityStack, a spinoff subsidiary technology group that created a “one-stop shop” that could meet its clients' legal technology and operational needs. In March, The American Lawyer also documented multiple law firms' attempts to use technology and their legal expertise to create a more efficient and transparent experience for clients.

Stanley Law Offices is a 10-lawyer plaintiffs firm that represents clients in workers' compensation and personal injury matters. The firm has five offices in central New York and northern Pennsylvania.
