The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation affects all industries in every country in the world. However, hotels of all sizes need to be particularly mindful of GDPR implications because they hold personally identifiable data of European citizens and if that information is leaked, they face multimillion-dollar fines and scrutiny from GDPR regulators.

Facing large fines and international embarrassment, hotel owners need to be mindful of how their operators, or managers, are securing data. David Reina, a partner at Morris, Manning & Martin, spoke to Corporate Counsel about how hotels are impacted by the GDPR and issues that come up in negotiations between owners and operators.
