On July 8, 2019, the UK ICO imposed on British Airways the highest fine ever for a data breach. Coming in at £183,000 million (US$230,000) this fine makes the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) the belle of the data privacy ball. Companies who don’t have adequate protection and security are not in compliance with laws in multiple jurisdictions and the regulators mean to enforce.
