In 1998, Henry Blodget, who at the time was an analyst at CIBC Oppenheimer, boldly predicted that Amazon’s stock would reach $400 per share. Blodget’s call was made at the height of a huge run-up in valuations of Silicon Valley tech startups. At the time, anything with a “.com” attached to it took off like a rocket ship.
