After having served as an in-house lawyer for Apple Inc. and associate general counsel for Broadcom Inc., Jung-Kyu McCann has stepped up to lead the legal department at Druva Inc., a cloud data protection and management company.
McCann joined Sunnyvale, California-based Druva in September as the firm's first-ever general counsel, according to a spokesman for the company. Druva announced her appointment Tuesday.
"In my role as general counsel at Druva, I am focused on building a world-class governance function that will help the company continue its rapid growth and ensure our policies are on par with other industry-defining and category leading enterprises," McCann wrote in an emailed response to a request for comment Tuesday.
"Additionally, as governance and regulation has become a chief concern for today's enterprises, I will be supporting Druva's team in delivering a comprehensive approach that provides our customers the flexibility and visibility to ensure they can meet all their legal needs," she added.
McCann worked at Broadcom from November 2017 until August of this year, according to her LinkedIn profile. She focused on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions deals, including Broadcom's $18.9 billion acquisition of CA Technologies.
Prior to Broadcom, McCann served as a senior manager and principal corporate and governance counsel at Apple Inc. She helped the company raise more than $100 billion in the global bond markets, according to a statement from Druva.
Earlier in her career, McCann spent nearly 16 years at Shearman & Sterling. She specialized in venture capital financing, general securities law compliance, disclosure and corporate governance.
Druva founder and CEO Jaspreet Singh trumpeted McCann's "extensive experience supporting and scaling some of the world's most well-regarded technology companies," adding in a written statement in the news release that she is an "exceptional" addition to the company.
Druva is a privately held company that was founded in 2008 with seven employees. The firm has now raised nearly $330 million in investments and has more than 700 employees and 4,000 companies as clients.
