Flexi-lawyer firm Lawyers On Demand (LOD) has launched its second German office, adding a base in Duesseldorf.

The firm has brought in German-native Andrea Klieve to lead the new office, which opened on Monday in Duesseldorf's city centre.

After qualifying as a lawyer in 2002, Kileve acted as business process outsourcing director and later as vice president of public services at German media giant Bertelsmann.

She steps into LOD's newly created role of regional director for North and West Germany, and will oversee the firm's expansion in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The launch follows LOD's Munich debut in 2018, following which the firm has grown its German lawyer roster to around 100, some of whom already cover the Dusseldorf area.

LOD Germany CEO, Michael Zollner, said in a statement following the launch: "Since our launch in Munich 18 months ago our business in Germany has grown significantly faster than we expected. Our services have clearly struck a chord, as we have already established some fantastic client relationships and a pool of very talented lawyers.

"By opening in Düsseldorf, we will be able to expand our business further by growing our customer base and lawyer pool in western and northern Germany, a major economic hub for the country."

In an interview last month, LOD's CEO, Tom Hartley, explained that Germany is one of the the firm's key growth areas, and is on the heels of its biggest markets the U.K., Australia and Singapore.

On the back of a keen expansion drive that has seen the firm grow to a 13-office, 950-lawyer outfit, LOD expects to add an extra £15 million (30%) to its top line by April this year.
