Following a trend of legal technology conferences that have gone virtual this summer and fall, another big event will be taking place online-only: the Clio Cloud Conference.
This morning, legal technology software provider Clio announced that its Clio Cloud Conference will be taking place fully virtually on October 13-16. This eighth version of the conference will be the first to move fully virtual, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was originally scheduled to take place in San Diego on October 15-16.
Pricing for the conference has changed as well, with Clio now offering a $99 price point for "super early-bird" conference access through June 30. Previously, the cost was $1,299 for the full-price regular event, plus $150 for admission to the After Dark event, with early registration discounts available. In an FAQ on the conference's website, Clio says it is refunding all previously purchased in-person passes via the method of payment used at purchase. The Manchester Grand Hyatt is also issuing refunds for rooms booked through Clio's block.
Clio noted that the conference is still expected to include both educational content and networking opportunities, with the full agenda and more details released in the coming months. In addition, author and business leader Seth Godin will be continuing his previously announced role at a conference keynote speaker, with more keynotes also to be announced in the future.
In a press release announcing the virtual conference, Clio CEO and co-founder Jack Newton touted the capability for a virtual event to draw in attendees who previously wouldn't have been able to travel to San Diego. "We've all experienced significant change and adversity, and it's crucial for our community to stay connected, share knowledge and engage in important dialogues," Newton said. "Taking ClioCon virtual will help us to dramatically expand the conference's reach and bring together legal and tech enthusiasts on a global scale."
In the past eight years, the Clio Cloud Conference has evolved from a user conference focused on Clio's practice management software, to a wider industry event that comprises a number of educational and networking events outside of Clio's software. The conference has also served as a stage for Clio's proprietary research in the form of its Legal Trends Report, as well as the home of its LAUNCH//CODE innovation competition.
