Normally, the start of summer means a number of recent law grads are hunkering down and getting ready to take on the make-or-break bar exam. In one way, this year is no different—the bar exam still looms large. But for many, how exactly that exam will be taken has changed dramatically. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many states have adopted alternative plans for their 2020 bar exams, ranging from rescheduling them, to making them an open book test, to even letting graduates skip the exam altogether. And all the while, virtual tests remain an option, which could change the nature of legal certification as we know it (especially as LSATs are trending that way).
