Social media posts from the legal industry can go viral for all the right and wrong reasons. But stenography and captioning software provider Stenograph didn’t think revealing its newest logo would spark attention online, and stir controversy.

On Aug. 5, Stenograph unveiled its new logo featuring the Stenograph name beside a two-toned image that many social media commenters thought resembled an audio bar. A few days after the release, the tech company received 200-plus comments to its logo announcement post on Facebook. Most comments described disappointment in the new logo seemingly embracing recording audio, rather than stenographers’ reporting function in the legal field.
