Fastcase Acquires Judicata as it Eyes Expanding Further Beyond Legal Research
In order to keep up with what it sees as evolving attorney expectations, Fastcase is enhancing its analysis abilities and expanding beyond the typical functions of a legal research platform.

Today Fastcase announced it acquired fellow legal research platform Judicata in a move to enhance its own legal analysis features. The acquisition comes at a time when the company is looking to provide a broader range of legal services.
While financial details were not disclosed, Judicata's reach in the legal industry will undoubtedly grow due to the acquisition. Previously, Judicata only provided analysis of California case law. Now, Judicata's search features will be leveraged in Fastcase and Docket Alarm Inc., a docket alerting and analytics company Fastcase acquired in 2018.
"Some of the research tools Judicata has built for California will be very powerful for Fastcase," said Fastcase CEO Ed Walters. He explained that those features include Judicata's citator function and its judicial search result ranking capabilities.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M.
