ASG LegalTech, the legal arm of software investor and operator ASG, made its initial foray into the legal market with practice management tools such as PracticePanther, Bill4Time, and MerusCase. But now, it is expanding its scope further into financial solutions, today announcing the acquisition of legal finance software company Headnote.

Headnote provides automation aimed at e-payments and accounts receivables, looking to help attorneys get paid virtually and in a more timely fashion. Through the deal, Headnote will remain a standalone company under the ASG LegalTech umbrella, though the company will be working to actively provide Headnote solutions within its other products.

The transaction itself has already closed, though financial details for the deal were not disclosed. ASG LegalTech said current Headnote customers should not expect any changes to service as a result of the acquisition. Headnote's current employees will be moving with the company to ASG as well, with Headnote co-founder and CEO Sarah Schaaf becoming the company's new general manager of Payments.
