Growing caseloads could accelerate the use of digital court reporting, much to the dismay of some stenographers who said the electronic process is “risky” and technology could threaten their livelihood.

Court reporter agencies said lawyers and judges are embracing digital court reporting as cases bounce back from COVID-19 lockdowns, bankruptcy filings grow, and selective court reporters bypass short-term insurance matters. As industry stakeholders warm up to digital court reporting, court reporter agencies said they will respond accordingly and ramp up their electronic services.
