Legal management company BigHand is furthering its move into lawyer resource management, announcing Thursday that it has acquired consultancy and software company Mason & Cook.

Originally founded in 2013, Mason & Cook provides both consultancy and software services for law firms around work allocation and lawyer resource management. A software solution named Vantage sprung out of those consulting engagements, and is primarily focused on customizable resourcing that integrates with other firm tech systems such as human resources, file management and more. Dave Cook, founder of Mason & Cook, noted in the press release announcing the deal that "nearly all our customers are already BigHand customers."

The acquisition is BigHand's first M&A since bringing on Levine Leichtman Capital Partners as a new investment partner in August. Financial details for this deal were not announced. Cook and his team will join BigHand as full-time employees.
