To say digital has transformed literally every business sector is not exactly a ground-breaking hot take. Retail, entertainment, banking, transportation, digital has upended how just about every industry does business. With one notable exception: legal.

Sure, there's LegalZoom, but let's be honest: Lawyers don't see LegalZoom as part of the legal sector any more than top brokers at Goldman Sachs see the Robin Hood app as part of the finance industry. Sadly, the extent of digital experience in the legal industry has pretty much stopped at a snazzy corporate website and branding.

Pen and paper-driven, document scanning and other manual processes are still very much the norm at many law firms and legal departments. Whether that mindset is driven out of simple force of habit and basic resistance to not 'fix what isn't broken' mentality (or perhaps it's a 'don't' mess with our billable hours' mentality), the bottom line is it isn't sustainable.
