Enterprise workflow solutions Onit announced Monday that it has acquired artificial intelligence contract management and legal self-service provider McCarthyFinch for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition represents a move by Onit to start threading AI capabilities throughout its own tapestry of offerings.

The announcement comes as businesses continue to adjust to the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, which has seen organizations of all stripes relying more heavily on contract analytics to help drive efficiencies and better understand terms.

Of course, legal tech providers haven't been immune from the realities of a COVID-19 economy either. Onit co-founder and CEO Eric M. Elfman acknowledged "a tough seven or eight months," but the company made a conscious decision to continue pursuing growth, both through hiring new employees and pursuing mergers and acquisitions opportunities.
