Technology has proven to be a vital bridge for law firms and legal departments alike during the last several months of the COVID-19 pandemic. While business continuity might continue to be in full swing, that doesn't mean there haven't been some bumps and bruises along the way. Collaboration platforms, for instance, are now almost a necessity for any organization attempting to leverage a dispersed workforce of employees sheltering at home. But they also pose some fundamental new challenges to the way that lawyers and clients interact, while also making it harder for cybersecurity professionals to effectively protect a network or the data contained therein. Meanwhile, the adoption of other digital tools intended to help speed business along in the age of COVID-19 are also potential sources of trouble on multiple fronts. Dangers range from burned out employees neglecting cybersecurity precautions to accelerated adoption rates that leave precious little time to ponder compliance implications.
