While most are ready to leave 2020 and COVID-19 behind, lawyers and their clients will likely bring digital communication platforms and their efficiency into the new year and beyond. Still, they noted that speaking into a screen has its limitations, and that for some lawyers, client onboarding and sensitive meetings will promptly go back to in-person interactions after COVID-19 subsides.

“I don’t think anyone wanted to do video calls before we had to,” said Mark McCreary, a partner and co-chairman of Fox Rothschild’s privacy and data security practice. But now that lawyers and clients are widely leveraging video conference platforms, they’re enjoying the inherent efficiencies, he added.
