A new audio streaming service called Vurbl launched in November and has wasted little time setting its sights set on the legal vertical. In addition to a mix of entertainment, wellness and true crime audio content, the platform has also made 58,630 legal oral arguments from nonprofit research site Court Listener available at no cost.

While Audra Gold, Vurbl’s CEO, expects that some kind of access fee for premium-level content could emerge further down the line, it’s not necessarily the availability of court materials, but rather the expense of storing it that could drive that step. “Once you get into the terabytes of data category that starts to get more expensive,” Gold said.
