Remote bar exams suddenly became a necessity in most states as COVID-19 infections spread across the U.S. But with little previous preparation for large-scale remote testing, there were unsurprising hiccups and mistakes leading up to and during the launch of these exams. Many voiced concerns, for example, that states were implementing an online bar exam before significantly reviewing if software provider ExamSoft could handle an influx of remote test takers or if it had adequate cybersecurity.
