In 2020 some questioned if COVID-19's economic uncertainty would steer law firms away from investing and developing legal tech. Slaughter and May in April, for instance, paused the start of its legal tech accelerator Collaborate in light of the pandemic. But amid pay freezes and job cuts, some law firms continued to roll out their legal tech developments. To be sure, during the early weeks of the pandemic various firms developed web-based portals and dashboards to help clients monitor and understand how government-issued COVID-19 restrictions impacted their business. However, many firms also continued to develop and launch legal tech geared toward solving general legal and client challenges not specific to COVD-19. Legaltech News looks back at some of legal tech tools law firms created in 2020.
